ACC Performance Boss Hog GM Powerglide Dirt Track Converter
GM 1962-1973 2 speed PowerGlide, 10.5" bolt circle, 17 spline, 11" Dia.
This is a new ACC Performance Boss Hog GM Powerglide torque converter. This converter is especially designed and built with circle track dirt racing in mind. Converters have modified fins to produce an ultra low stall (1600-1800 RPM) while utilizing an 11" diameter case. Reverse flow top fins increase fluid flow for this low stall. Designed to allow the converter to achieve the 1:1 drive ratio with the engine that occurs at stall quicker. High stalls only produce more heat, you're over the stall range RPM most of the time anyway, and, if you're under the stall coming out of the corner and stomp on it it'll be flashing and probably want to get the car loose.
These converters incorporate the usual ACC goodies such as heavy duty industrial bearings including a large front bearing and extra welding on vital components to perform under the harsh conditions and stress of dirt racing. This converter is 11" in diameter. Weighs about 27 pounds. Standard length pilot.
WARNING: Dirt Track Racers - Some of these parts may or may not be legal at your track. This product looks stock but runs fast. Use at your own risk! Mid plate users - extended pilot converters can be custom ordered, please contact us for more details. |
The automotive industry now has a new torque converter leader. ACC has emerged as a out-right leader in this industry and here’s why:
Welded not Furnace Brazed. Contrary to popular belief, furnace brazing is not the best way to adhere torque converter components to together. Just like a Teflon coated pan, after some time the furnace brazing will erode away and ruin the stators and all other rotating parts in your transmission. All of ACC torque converters are welded at the seams, not brazed, to eliminate the erosion after time.
Industrial Bearings - No Light Duty Needle Bearings. Needle bearings are good, but not great. Industrial bearings give these converters the ability to handle not hundreds, but thousands of pounds of torque. That’s much better then the higher priced alternative converters.
Aircraft Aluminum Washers - NO FIBER. ACC converters utilize an aircraft quality aluminum washer instead of those old fiber washers that other companies use. This allows for more horsepower and torque capabilities.
NO Automation - ALL HAND BUILT. ACC Performance torque converters are hand built and tested to ensure that you are getting the best converter money can buy. No automated process can ensure that you will get that kind of quality. Made here in the USA. (You old school people may remember ACC as Alabama Converters).
With all this new information, ask yourself one question. Are you paying too much money for not enough converter? We bet you are. All ACC Performance torque converters are warrantied for a period of 2 years to be free of defects in material or workmanship under normal operating conditions, providing normal application and installation methods are followed. This warranty does not cover any units that have been tampered with or altered prior to our inspection and is limited to the replacement of the defective torque converter upon inspection.
